Dear Patrons, Members, and Well‑Wishers,

As we move forward together, I want to share an honest and heartfelt update about the work happening behind the scenes. At times, it may appear that little is happening, but in reality, significant progress is being made quietly, thoughtfully, and with deep commitment.

The Journey Matters

Temple building is a time‑consuming and energy‑intensive endeavour. While the final structure is important, the journey itself holds immense value. Like any family, every organisation experiences conflict, and SJS UK is no exception. What truly matters is how we understand each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and differences—and how we unite to achieve our shared purpose.

Recently, with the support of an external expert, the trustees met in person at the Rajasthan Welfare Society. Each trustee now has a clear plan for working more effectively and collaboratively in the months ahead.

Strengthening Our Governance

On the same day, we held a physical meeting of the Executive Members, followed by a virtual follow‑up. The Executive is now forming a Council that will:

  • Hold trustees accountable
  • Strengthen engagement with members
  • Enhance our connection with the wider public

In line with the amended constitution, we are expanding the Trust by adding five new portfolio trustees to bring fresh energy and leadership. We have received expressions of interest from several eligible members in good standing, and the selection process will be completed soon.

Property Search & Bid Submission

After reviewing several potential properties—and with generous commitments from members in the form of donations or loans—we have submitted a bid to Hillingdon Council for a community centre space in Uxbridge.

We believe we are the highest bidder and now await the outcome with anticipation. Meanwhile, we continue to explore other suitable and affordable options.

Community Events & Ratha Jatra

Many of you will have seen the annual calendar of events already published. We have successfully completed four events this year with wide participation and enthusiasm.

We now look forward to the biggest celebration of the year: Ratha Jatra. Your active participation will be essential in making this a truly memorable and unifying event for our community.

A Personal Note

Last year brought some health challenges for me personally:

  • Acute pancreatitis in November
  • Vocal cord biopsy in December
  • Gallbladder surgery in April

I am grateful to share that I am now well and looking forward to a long period of good health. I know many of you, or your families, may also be going through difficult times. My heartfelt wishes are with you. May strength and healing be with all who need it.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Please note that our AGM will be held on 9th May. I would love to see you all there in large numbers, bringing renewed energy and commitment so that together we can achieve our shared objectives sooner rather than later.

With warm regards,

Dr. Sahadev Swain
